Hey has anyone had any luck with saugeye yet this year?? I usually fish below the locks and dams on the river with pretty good success in late winter/early spring. I havent been out yet this year and just wondered if anyone has caught much..

They should be biting right now on plastic grubs, spoons, silver buddies should be able to pick up a few depending on the water clarity and bait color selection. It also depends whether your on the bank or in the boat, with shoreline fishing your limited to those areas but the boat you can roam around the dam areas. My best success has came from the boat, along the lock walls and submerged rock piles.

Well theres obviously NO fishermen on this site...SO I had to go see if anything was biting myself...the river was WAY up...the highest I have ever fished it....I was there for about 1 1/2 hours. Caught a saugeye and a white bass...terrible conditions..they will be tearing it up when the water level drops.

I was fishing below gallipolis at the R.C. Byrd Locks & Dam. They recently have added better fishing access which is basically the same thing as the Greenup tailwaters except they have a handicap ramp at Gallipolis.

Heard that on the numbers, catching the little cigars are fun but I like the ones with some meat on their bones. The only thing I have fished for up at the Byrd lock and dam has been smallmouth, I heard a few years back where they were going to revamp the KY side of the Greenup Locks and Dam but to this date nothing has ever happened that I know of.
