Well you answered your own question and after thinking about it you will do different next time. So now that you have the blood flowing next time out be patient as the weeks go bye the deer will be more visable, (that corn will be gone) the rut will start (this is unreal) and your chances will go up greatly. Will look forward to your next thread saying "I got my first deer!" Good Luck

I agree with Buckbacks. You never want to shoot much after 7 this week. Its downright DARK. Plus its the worst feeling in the world to wound an animal and not be able to find it. Patience pays off especially in bow hunting. Sounds like you may want to move your stand either to the edge of the corn or onto a good trail leading to the corn.

well I'm glad you had a good time. After all that huntin you deserve a try.:)
Perhaps you should make a natural blind at the edge of that cornfield. Sounds like that's the place to be.:)

If you took your shot at 7:15 PM yesterday, you were in violation of Ohio's 1/2 past sunset rule!
Yesterday, October 24th, sunset for the western section of Ohio was 6:43 PM, the eastern section was 6:36 PM.
you might want to be more careful of the time you shoot when in the field, or post the correct time here when writing about your exploits!
Below is ODNR's legal times when to start shooting:

Thanks!

Remember, after every hunt you should walk out of the woods learning something new that you didn't know when you walked in.

A little advice for your hunting adventures...You can't connect if you can't place your pins.
A little advice for your ohiosportsman.com adventures...Don't post anything you did that violates any law. Believe me, its not worth the $h!t you are gonna take.
Wish you the best, this truly is the best sport God ever created.

i'm glad you had fun and learned something. fortunate it was a clean miss and all you lost was an arrow. good luck on your future hunts and be careful about your shooting times. they are in place for a reason.
i agree with bowhunter1023, if you can't see your pins on your bow, you certainly can't place a clean shot on a deer 10 yards away. don't shoot.
