I saw this on another site and though it might be good question over here was wondering if anybody here has had any knowledge or experience with the difference between the cxl and cxl selects beside the tolerance.Has anybody shot these two shafts together with any or little difference??

I was just looking at those last we and was going to try them. Any input would be great about them.

From what I've seen and read, these shafts are VERY fragile. The guy I shot 3-D with this past Sunday shoots them-he had one break at the nock end that day-for no apparent reason. And he's only shooting 47lbs! We were shooting together last year, and my arrow slid alongside his in a target.....and it split.

I was gonna shoot them for 3-D because of the dia., but it seems anything they come in contact with makes them break. Do a search for them at www.archerytalk.com. A lot of guys on there have used them-mostly with bad results.

Bums me out-I was really wanting to shoot them at the beginning of the year. :(

I started shooting the cxl this spring and i'm very happy withthem so far,Allshafts will either splinter of dent if hit formthe sides. The main reason i switch from eastom acc 349 was i could not get them down to grain.I switch to the carbon express and i can get 300 grain arrow at 60lb pull shooting 297 fps i could never get that out of the acc and they to were fragile on side hits, but will post my results from this year 3d shoots from shooting the carbon express.we will see what happens besides i like the price alittle better can get two dozen for the price of one:D

I shoot CX 300. I have shot beamen, easton, gold tips. My CX 300 are by far best tolerances and toughest shaft of them all.

I can say IMO your statement on the m being fragile is dead wrong.

Aimrite-

Go back and re-read my post. I didn't sat the 'CX' shafts were fragile. I did say the 'CXL' shafts were-from what I've seen and read.

I shoot the 'CX' shafts as well and agree they are a great arrow.

The difference between the two is the 'CXL' is a very large diameter shaft(22xx series diameter), where the 'CX' is a standard internal component size shaft.

Maybe you mis-understood?

I may be getting some 'CXL's from a friend-just to do my own testing. I'll let ya know what I come up with.

I'm going to look into these CX shafts. I'm shooting about 60 lbs. what size do you guys use for that poundage?

Desperado you can use cx 200 that will get you in the ball park of 5grain per pound of pull if you are after speed.

If my memory plays me right i'm shooting a cx200 at 28inch witha 75 grain saunders field point right at 300 grain shooting out of my mathews icon shooting at 297 fps

Hope this helps out

I couldn't stand the curiosity any longer, so about a week ago I picked up my friends CXL shafts and have been shooting them.

So far they seem to be O.K. I just dread using them in competition and getting them trashed. I'm going to Tenn. this weekend so they should get a lot of abuse. I'll let ya know how they hold up.

I bought a dozen Cabelas Camo Hunters when they where on sale a few months ago. The are actually Black Hawk Vapors.

So far I don't have any real complaints. The seem like a good hunting shaft.

I'm shooting about 60 lbs. what size do you guys use for that poundage?

Depends on Draw length as well. The longer the shaft the weaker the spine. Caribou2 is on the low edge of the break. If your #60+ with a draw of 29 or higher I'd go with the 300's especially if you have an aggresive cam bow.

I shot the cx 300, the Terminator select and the 3d selects and I did find them to be slightly less durable than Blackhawk, Gold tip or Beemans. Seems the outer shaft, if grazed by an arrow, would splinter off in strips. Any carbon will do this if hit hard enough. but the others seemed to take it a liitle better. I'm not saying I don't believe Aimright though as arrows can greatly vary from batch to batch sometimes. Maybe I just got a screwy bunch.

I think the only difference btw the cx and cxl are tolerances. They grouped the same for me.

I shot 2 deer with those 2 years ago. Nice shafts for the price, just a little heavy for some. I'm going to 10-11 Gr/ inch this year for hunting though I don't mind the weight.

I am shooting a Oneida Aero force at 60lbs. with a 28 1/2" arrow with a 100 gr. Thunderhead. I should shoot a cx300?

Nope. Caribou2 was right...stick with the 200s. If you had a 29-30 draw on a bow with agressive cams (Bowtech, Hoyt, High country) you might want a little more spine. Those Oneidas are smooooth shooters though so you should be fine with the 200s.
