I thought that a college or the state already owned that lake and it was where the student wildlife biologists trained, I have been there on occasion and obseved students there doing studys with the ODNR but that was a few years back.

It would be a shame to lose to lake to development. Some great bass fishing, and the ony place I ever caught a catfish on a hotdog!

Lake Snowden was built by the COE's as flood control. It does look like the college is going to sell it to the deveolpers as pretty much a gated community.
The college didn't ask the ODNR because according to the college, "they are as broke as we are" - it truly is a foolish move on the college's part but they went $126,000 in the hole last year on the lake. Sure does make a really nice place for the college students to learn....

What I read in the Columbus Dispatch was this land was taken from private owners in the 60s and now they are turning around and selling it back to the public. Three guys want to build private $200,000 cottages and some kind of lodge on it. Do you think they'll still let fishermen and hunters there...lol.

If they would quit buying and building all those fancy buildings then they would have a few more dollars in their pockets. You don't build 5 new buildings and then complain about money. The families that the land was taken from should recieve most of the money.

i believe its part of the margaret creek watershed...there was a nice sized lake off county road 17 near hibbardsville and another smaller lake back towards athens off 17...and i'm not sure if fox lake was part of it or not...any way i dont know if these lake were built with tax payers money...never could figure that out...
