getting ready. and really pumped to bowhunt this year. i plan on spending as many hours on stand this year as possible. i have a place to hunt just 5 miles from my office...:mischeif:

got my compound out the other day to practice. 20 yard shots at the deer from my deck, 8 feet off the ground.

one shot (very first shot)...one kill :mischeif:

foam target/straw bale is where i check my broadheads. this whited area in the red circle is where i been hittin with the b-heads. i shoot a couple b-heads occasionally just to check things. mine seem to fly just like field points at 20 yards...

kind of a dumb question of me...:D but if it prompted at least one person to think "yeah, i want to shoot straight and true at that deer this season, i better practice some more" it was worth the time :)

I expect most every bow hunter on OS.com has practiced and are ready to hit the woods next week. alot of us shoot year round to varying degrees. this was kinda a "killing time" kinda thread, it was raining off and on all day and evening here yesterday. good luck all!

i am not shootin a lot but a lil bit almost everyday...i usually tend to over do it this time of year...then the sches come, shouder stiffins an the upper back muscle stiffins an i get a stiff neck...not as bad for the shootin as being able to turn neck right or left on stand...i got to turn whole body stiffly...cold weather+ over doin shootin+ lots of heavy stuff at work=body aches everywhere...was very pleased tonight with the shootin to 15 yds...didnt go any farther...:dizzy:

I shoot quite a bit year round. Went out today and was consistently shooting a five shot group at 40 yards small enough to wrap my fingers around. Can't wait till Sunday ( Arkansas season starts on Sunday).

I've been shooting pretty regularly the past 6 weeks. 10-20 arrows per night. I only shoot out to 20yds. Still havent shot any broadheads. First day out will be Oct. 20.

Y'all might want to take a few shots with your hunting outfit on before you hit the woods. For almost everyone, your point of impact will be different.

I startedpacking my truck lastnight....and I finally found my bow, it was behind the ice box. So, I'll shoot a little this after noon and I should be good to go. Gots to go get them Dirt Dobber nest of the limbs and that string looks like a little 100mph tape is needed. :dizzy: :coco:

Well, seeing as the temperatures are still getting up into the 80's down here, my hunting outfit will probably just consist of a camo t-shirt, my light camo overalls, and rubber boots.
