Here is a scenerio.

A friend has come over to hunt. You two are good friends, but not best bud's. He loves to hunt almost as much as you do, but hasn't killed a nice buck yet.

If you took him hunting on your property which would you do?

It would depend on if I had my big buck yet. If I'm tagged out I'd prolly set him up for a big buck. If not, I'd explain it to him about "Me First" for the big buck stand and let him ride it out at a less likely stand.

I took a good friend hunting last year and put him in the best spot I new and I took the second best spot on the property. I shot at a pheasant and missed and he shot a respectable buck. I helped tracted it till about midnight, than field dressed it, then we both drugged it up to the truck, and then I helped hang it. Needless to say I didn't get home until some around 4:00am and no I didn't get a buck last year. I know my fault for putting him in the best spot. But he has turned me on to some good fishing holes and some good hunting spots, so I guess we are even now.

If he is youur friend and hasnt taken a buck, this question should have been answered before it was asked.

At least from my point of view.

I tell'em to shut up and be quiet and don't pull the trigger until you got a clean shot. :)

It really depends on the guy and how he hunts. Most times we would probably flip a coin for the best stand. I have been burned before by putting the "wrong" guy in a really good set-up. A few years ago I put a buddy in one of my best stands for a morning hunt. He hunts the am sees some deer but never gets a good shot. We meet back up and he tells me what he saw and how it went. Then he proceeds to tell me "man I did a bunch of scouting after I was done hunting and saw tons of beds and rubs, I even followed the scapeline into the thicket, looks like thats where that buck is bedding." Duh, thats why I hung the stand there, good thing you stomped all through the bedding area, that should really bring them in!!! He gets the 2nd best stand now when we hunt together.

I agree its fun to just hear the stories. It enjoy knowing I did something to help someone out, its kind of rewarding.
