My buddy got a roadkill this morning and it turned out to be a beautiful basket racked 8 point. Our taxidermist didn't have any fermaldahide (sp?) to soak it in and suggested something from Lowes or a hardware store to soak it in but I wasn't there for the conversation. He told him that it's a 50-50 shot at saving the antlers since it's so early. Any of you guys have any tips for this? We just wanna do an antler mount.

First and foremost, make sure you have a legal tag to possess the antlers. No respectable taxidermist will take them without one. Forget about the hardware store chemical, most likely denatured alcohol. The antlers just aren't developed enough right now. Take them to a reputable taxidermist and they will take care of them correctly, most likely by having them professionally freeze dried.
