My friend and I were discussing his failing eyesight and shooting. He wants to mount an Eotech type scope or red dot on his shotgun. This is what I came up with tinkering in the garage. I used an old Weaver style rail I had in the junk box. I drilled the shotgun rib, then mounted the rail. It works like a scout style rifle scope. They eye relief is the same no matter where you mount the scope. We have yet to try it with 3" shotshells.

Looks like a good set-up - hope it works for him - I use a red dot on my Rem -870 for turks - its mounted on a cantilever and works great - i'm sure your friend will like it once he gets use to it - i taped a spare batt to my gun stock
take care

Should work, I've got an Eotech mounted on one of my rifles and really like it.

chadwimc,
Keep us posted on how well this set up works, as I'd like to try it myself. I've been considering a red dot for my shotgun for geese, crows, fox, coyotes, etc. So far, I've read nothing, but good things about this type of set up. :)
