i recently went catfishing on the Chagrin river, i caught about 4 or 5 decent(about 4-8 pounds) channelcats using a basic slip sinker rig with minnows, but i was wondering anyone know of any better rigs, baits, tips or tricks?

Use the basic slip sinker rig your using, use the lindy flaoting rig to bring bait off of bottom. this also works for walleye.
The catfish are spawning right now. Find a rip rap wall with at least 3' of water on it, use a bobber, split shot and tie the hook on the end of the line, set the bobber so your bait is just off the bottom. Lots of different bait works, but night crawlers seem to be the best and less hassle. Walk or move your boat along, fishing within 3 ft of shore most of the time. Good Luck!
