Sometimes I wish season would start a bit earlier so I would have the chance to kill a buck in velvet. Ive always wanted to do that. Sure, there are the few that are still wearing velvet once season starts, but its rare and doest last long.

Have any of you had the privilege?? If so, what state was it in?:coolgleamA:

I killed one in KY a few years ago that was in velvet. The season starts the first weekend in Sept. down there.

Use the limbsavers, they are great, Ben Pearson, Howard Hill and Fred Bear would have used them if they were around in their time......)

That would be cool to have one mounted.I think most of your southern state come into season with velvet still hanging on if you want to hunt out of state,But as for Ohio i think you would pretty much have to hit one with a car to get a full velvet buck.

Funny ,Next you guys are going to say shooting carbon arrow out of a recurve is not trad. either A
Come on guys as long as it does not have wheels on the bow you should praise the guy not cut him down by the equipment he chooses just because he does not shoot wood arrows splined by you and a bow carve by you and flint arrow tip found in a muddy field.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and bow string made from large intestin

Buckeye Cam it is hard for me to respond while I am sound asleep. I have risen and will now issue my reply:
It is a waste to put Limb Savers on that thing you call a recurve. The only way to shoot that bow well is with a shotgun. I cant believe anyone would take the time to put a string on that warped-limbed beast, it would be most effective used as a club. Perhaps you could sharpen the limb tips and use it like a spear. Another method would be to lay it cross-ways on game trails and hope to trip the critters as they come by. That is the only bow I have ever seen hanging at an OSTA shoot that people were afraid to touch. It is the ugly stepchild of the archery world and only a man with your passion for the sport and love of the doing things the hard way could appreciate it..........
Putting limbsavers on that bow is like giving a box of those delicious Londonderry doughnuts to a fat chic..........might make it feel better but it aint solving the problem..............)
