I wouldnt hold your breath...Everyone I knew got rid of their dogs when pelts hit rock bottom a few years ago. They couldnt even feed their dogs with the money from the fur. :nono:

Many years ago I used to coon hunt several nights a week. I don't hunt them anymore. As a matter of fact I don't know anyone around here that does. Used to be that everybody and their brother hunted them.

I am still an avide coon hunter no matter the price of the hides. It's still nice to train and hunt dog .Nothing beats shining the tree and seeing eyes looking back.Have passed this on to my boy (in college now) every weekend during season we hit'em pretty hard. It's very rewarding for him to skin and put up good hides all which are shiped to north bay for auction.

the guys i know hunt for the enjoyment now...its in there blood...also there is still fox hunters around athens that hunt with dogs...funny...most landowners there hate tresspassers but coon hunting seems to be ok...especially if they know the hunters, shoot they might just run out an join in if the dogs are hot on the trail...DOGS dont know the boundary or the law...thats what a coonhunter told me...had to agree...:mischeif:

The folks that still coon hunt nowadays are the ones that truely love to coon hunt and are doin it for the right reasons..Not just to get some $$$ for a critters skin.
I've only went a few times with folks and its always been...ahhhhh...interesting, yeah thats it...lol
