Hit the Ohio for the first time this spring from the New Richmond ramp.
There were about 12 other trailers in the lot. We fished for cats first and the second spot we tried produced a 34 inch 13 pound 8 ounze channel cat as soon as it hit the bottom. Moved up river and hit a nice riffle area with a gravel bar and more current. We picked up 2 channels in the first 15 minutes;
a 5 lber & 2.5 lber. We had numerous "nibblers" over the next hour so we decided to fish for eyes/stripers. I ended up catching one sauger on the small side in 1 hour of fishing. We had yard work to do, so we headed out around 3. Nice day and we caught a few fish for a short trip.
River temp 64.7 - 66.1 on the surface.
