Was walking back to the truck this morning and jumped a hen out of her nest off a logging road. She was only about 5 feet from me when she decided to take off, looked like she had somewhere around 20 eggs in there. Was wandering if my spooking her off would do any harm to the eggs or If she would not want to come back to the nest. Also the area where she was at is close to where I heard the only gobble of the morning come from. I've seen 20+ hens this season, but only heard 3 gobbles and every time the bird has only gobbled once then shut up. Any tips would be helpful

She'll be back....I spooked one on Sunday off the youth season and she had 17 eggs in her nest...Seemed like a bunch to me. I always thought they layed about 14 or so then started incubating.

funny how much difference between a goose an turk on nest...a goose will not leave no matter what...and the male goose will attack anything that gets close...i guess maybe mating pair has something to do with it...maybe...male turk just looks for another hen,to heck with the kids...:mischeif:
