I dont shoot jakes. I dont shoot Gobblers in the Fall. I know in PA too many guys target Gobblers in the Fall, and more hens need to be taken.

i have shot a jake...i guess i would again...but i believe i'd try to get the big boy first...i approach turks lots different then deer the way i hunt...i really want to get a turk...i havent kilt too many...:mischeif:
No jakes, only the big gobbler(2) that i take every year.. Fall season I shoot the hens that eat the hell of my oat seeds!!! Too many turkeys, ought to be a open seaon like crows!!!!

I seem to get a jake every year 5 minutes into the season opener. They taste ok but I prefer a Butterball from IGA or Kroger. Deep fried is best one a wild one.
Time in the woods is my main priority during turkey season scouting for my fall venison back straps :)

With a gun I'll pass, but if it's the last week and I'm birdless then I'll shoot one.
With a bow I may shoot one, but I'll have to cross that bridge when I get there.

Same here. It's a matter of timing.

shot one last year
Only seen 1 hen while actually pursuing turkey, and that was over 100 yds away. Never had one respond to a call during season. You better believe if I see a beard, or a 5 o'clock shadow within range, its down.

XX78 I like the comment about a 5 o'clock shadow LOL!! In the Fall I will either try and bust a flock up and call, or I will just pattern a flock and ambush them. The best scenario is to scatter a floack right before dark and then go back and call the next morning first thing.

I'll shoot a jake. They taste just a good as a tom! That Chevy of mine didn't get stuck, and I don't know if I ever seen Spittinspur's Dodge get stuck down there.
Ole Jimmy had to close his eyes when he seen the creek that his truck was being driven through. The funny part is that it made it through the creek, but the embankment up to the cabin was not so friendly. There could have been a little bit of operator error, but I have never seen him get stuck in his own truck.
