Wanted to know about the crappie situation. Where to bank fish for them, I understand crappie fishing is excellent there.

Also does anyone hunt mushrooms there? When is the best time? Thanks for any info!

Check with the bait shops near the lake. The "Boar's Head" comes to mind.

As for mushrooms, they're all over the place. But, if I showed you my spots, I'd have ta kill ya.:p

Seriously, I park at the boat ramp off Macedonia road. The trail on either side will lead you through prime mushroom woods. Take a stout walking stick. It comes in handy for lifting rocks and leaf litter. You can use your stick to smash spiders and fight off swamp monsters. It can be used to poke in dark spots. If you have a companion with you and find a bunch of morels, you can whack 'em over the head so you have all the mushrooms to yourself.

Wild turkey season starts at the end of the month. If you go busting through the woods before noon, you're courting trouble. Just wait until after 12:00 when the turkey hunters are done for the day.

If this weather remains constant, start looking towards the end of the week. The nights need to stay at least in the 50's.

This is one of my home lakes. I live 10 minutes from there. That is an excellent crappie lake, but one of the toughest lakes to bank fish , especially crappies....... Over off STR # 125 at the beach area , to the right when looking down at the beach , is a pretty good spot for bankin... Lots of logs, stumps and deeper waters.....I've had some great nights there......;) THE CATKING !!!
