They had it's sheds measured and it beat the world record, but it won't count because it has been raised captive! "Based on photos of Goliath's velvet rack, many experts say he would easily beat the world record of 333 7/8 Boone and Crockett points. Of course, as a captive deer, he's ineligible for B&C entry. "

This deer was stolen from it's owner in 1999!:yikes: :yikes: "“Goliath,” the record-setting buck whitetail deer allegedly stolen from a Beaver Township deer farm in 1999 is now the center of criminal charges and a civil lawsuit filed against a Reynoldsville man accused of taking the deer and attempting to sell it to a Missouri man." check out this story at this web site!------>

That thing is no different than a prize dairy cow! I suppose for the right fee they would put it in a pen for some lucky "Hunter" to bag! ;)

What's wrong with deer farming? They didn't raise this buck to be someone's trophy. In fact, from the articles that I have read he was relatively docile and nearly domestic. They made money by selling the uuuhhhhh fruits of his jewels so to speak. Yes, he was stolen, and I don't think the criminal investigation or civil suit has been settled yet, and yes sadly I read that he did die after being returned to the rightful owners. I am not positive, but I think he was only 4.5 to 5.5 years old when he died and he did die in the pen and not to a hunter.

Nothing wrong with deer farming as long as they don't become a cesspool of disease and the animals are not passed off as being harvested in the wild after being bought for $15,000+.
