Naw, not a bandwagon thing. The first bow I ever owned was Bear recurve. I think the simplicity and beauty of theses bows is what I like. I will never give up my compound. But it would be nice to expand to other sides of archery. I think you can have 4 or 5 stickbows and shoot them easier than 4 or 5 compounds. With all the tuning and adjusting.

It is good to see all of those ebay Closet Queens given a new home, and shoot arrows once again. Just remember that all of the older bows may come with a string but needs checked before string one up. B-50 / dacron, string material only should be used when getting an older bow. And be sure to check for cracks in the limbs and riser. Also check for any twist in the limbs before and after stringing. Also invest in a good stringer, it will help extend the life of an older bow.

its as simple as , me knowing that not everything i loose an arrow at is going to die , you need to realise this in order to stick with the so called trad thing . alot of people who have shot a compound all there life , cant seem to get use to not killing everything they shoot at . not meaning any disrespect or anything , but i can see where it would cause a little mental strain if you hit the kill everytime you shoot at a three d target then get out the recurve and miss everything you shoot at ,, ( for a while). me , heck im used to missing . so bring your so called tradbow to the osta shoots , have fun , then take your compound hunting. i just love to watch the arrow fly , hoot

I agree with Hoot in that you have to be willing to accept the limits of your ability shooting a bow and arrow. most people aren't capable of making good shots on game at 30+ yards without sights and wheels(probly, most people aren't capable of consistently doing that with them, either). yes, there are a handful of people who are that good, but they are the exception, not the rule. losing the wheels and all that other junk isn't necessarily a handicap, unless you're afraid of giving up that 30+ yard shot. just get closer, be a better hunter. I've seen lots of enthusiastic traditional newbies run back to their compound after one miss. people always do what's important to them, and that's ok. there is no such thing as a "slam dunk" with a stick and string. one things for sure, only one thing to blame when that arrow goes somewhere other than where you want. :)

bowmiller, you too speak with wisdom. the sport is whitetail hunting not whitetail getting. know your limitations and go with your instincts. get close. then you must close the deal...with stick and string...or wheelie bows.
"only one thing to blame when that arrow goes somewhere other than where you want."

I missed a turkey, hog, and jake before I finally killed an animal with a traditional bow.
I've found that there are pro's and con's to both. Nice thing about trad gear is shooting in conditions where you wouldn't have been able to see your sight pins. I don't think I would have killed my Ohio buck if I had been using sights.

A lot of years of wisdom comming out here. Hunting with stick and string, is just another set of skills. Hunting or just shooting, whether it be with a cam and a half, or recurve. Is archery. It's the competition of one mastering himself. It's love of archery in whatever form.

Muzz Man asked the question "what's wrong with me". Not really knowing Muzz I pondered the question. Looked at it from just about every angle. Read the words of wisdom sponken by my contemporaries here, dug back into my vast years of experience and have finally deduces two opitions. One, nothing is wrong with you. Two, every thing is wrong with you. I think I'll go with #2. :D
