leather for me . i put a strip about 1/4 in wide across my rest and up the sight window about 1" high , then cover the shelf and sight window over with the same leather , raises the arrow up a bit so it dont ride on the rest so much , and it hits the window and rest at the same place , hoot

:mischeif: my main preference is bear hair...i do have bout 5 bows with feather rests...mostly shakespeare(original),i see little difference in how the bow shoots with the different rests... ...one has a flipper rest...only time i use leather is on custom bows that come with them...tonite i shot the shakespeare super neceda i just got and it has a feather rest...i havent shot a feather rest in a year but i was immediately right on with it...:mischeif:

Seal skin, leather, velcro and whole host of other material makes a good shelf rest on a longbow.
But for a recurve I like an elevated rest..

My bow has one piece of sticky-back felt for the strike plate and continues down onto the shelf...Workin fine so far...The guy that set it up for me suggested it.

I used to sealskin. Very durable. But it was $$$ and hard to keep glued on. I have rugs on most of em' now.

i normally use the bear hair set that comes with bear hair rest and leather strike plate...most archery shops and larger hunting stores sell these for about 3.75...they have self stick...the rest has to be cut to fit...:mischeif:
