How many of you traditionalist hunt from treestands? The reason I ask is that i was reading a thread on another website and a guy said" real trad's dont hunt from tree stands.

I hunt from a tree stand, shoot a glass backed recurve, carbon arrows, and wear scent lok. At this rate I'm never going to pass elitest training.;)

Sometimes I take a little boy hunting and he shoots a recurve. I have to modify some of my stands just so he can shoot out of them with that long arse bow.

not needed simple...they do nothing to save a limb and are not needed to queit down a bow...all they do is generate revenue for somebuddy laughin his way to the bank...like how much are the really worth...5$...boy what a profit margin...:mischeif:

Don't quite the bow? Sorry, but cant' say as I agree with you on that one.
However, you don't need them if your shooting an arrow that is around 10 grains per pound of draw wieght and use string silenencers. Adding a strap on quiver will also dampen vibration and noise.

Seems to me I remember reading how the Indians used to hunt from trees and from rock ledges....Not Traditional!?!....
Yes, I hunt from trees and on the ground... I havent used my rercurve for hunting yet, But I will do both...Whatever place puts me near the meat!!!

i do use stands, quite a lot actually...i did perch on tree limbs in the 60s...no belt,rope...i still occassionally perch on a limb, sometimes without a belt,rope.harness...i find i see more deer by perching on limbs than using a stand but its harder getting shots because of limbs in the way...:mischeif:

why would you want to shoot a bow that you have to put things on the limbs to take the vibration out of it , mabey you need another bow . i have a room full of old bows , and none of them need them .

i have a room full of bows too, they all can be as quiet as needed for deer hunting...with just the use of silencers...about 1/2 to 2/3 are very quiet without silencers...just a bare string...none of my selfbows need silencers and i dont recall any longbow i've owned that needed silencers...and i dont use overweighted arrows either...my arrows for my 50# bows come in at about 480 gr...but no bow can not be completely silent,i have yet to see a bow i can not hear at 10 yds. or prolly even 20 yds...and i've been around a lot of bows...:mischeif:

I hunt both on the ground and in a tree, an occasionally back in that one room shack. I wonder if the guy who says a treestand is untraditional hunts out of a pop-up or cloth blind.

you mean a static selfbow,i concede my selfbows are very quiet...more quiet than any of my glass lam. bows for sure...but i do have super sensitive hearing so i believe i'll hear it at 10 yds...:mischeif:
