You can win money at 3D shoots?

All we get are trophies.

I shoot and keep score mainly for practice.

I only shoot 3-D to keep sharp! I will keep score from time to time, however, not all that often. As long as the foam animal that I am shooting at is "DEAD" with the placement of the arrow, then I am a happy.

It builds confidence and the reps are good muscle memory practice for the "moment of truth" during the season!

you gotta watch some targets and their KILL zones, they are not quite right for a live animal.
Some of the targets, if you shoot where you would normally shoot a deer, it wouldnt score very well.
Kind of mis-leading and might cause shots that are a little too far back in the real world.

agreed. You have to shoot for the situation, not the rings. ;)

Yes I keep score, I may not turn it in but I want to know and have a record of how well I am or am not shooting. Shooting barebow, to me it is important. What my shots are like at certain yardages and know where I may need practice, because if I am not comfortable at a certain yardage I want to know it.

Yes, it is just practice but well worth the effort. With only one shot during deer season I want to be able to increase the odds to better than 50/50. I would like to see more elevated shots at 3-D shoots though to replicate shooting from a tree stand.

I enjoy 3-D shooting or I wouldn't go.

As far as the competition, the ONLY person on the course that I have to beat is me. If I shoot a better score than I did the last time, I'm improving. :D There's always room for improvement.

Having said that, I don't get caught up in the competitiveness of the event enough to ruin myself and become burnt out. :tsk: It's a state of mind that I try to keep myself in that says, "This target that I'm shooting is the only target on the course. The last one (s) and the next one (s) don't count, just this one." This line of thought keeps me sharp for hunting and helps me concentrate on the task/target at hand. :coolgleamA:

Good hunting, Bowhunter57

I show up and shoot. I don't care what the score is, I just like shooting and testing myself for hunting.

I just love to shoot and getting out and shooting 3D makes me think about how far is the target and to put the pin where the kill zone is.It is fun sometimes to go for the 12 and not just the 10.I shoot a mathew switchback and I really and happy with how it shoots 3D and how I it feels.I also like my recurve.

Used to like to keep score but I have fun just slinging arrows now.

I'm sorry, but I show up with the attitude I'm going to win.I don't always, but I do expect to every week.I use the shoots for practice also, but I believe the competition drives me personaly, to do the very best that I can.The guys I shoot with are very good and shooting with them has made me better.
I'm shooting the IBO indoor championships this comming weekend at the IX center, and I want to give a good showing of my self.

Went to a shoot today and shot my personal best yet. I got a 149 on a 20 target course. I placed fourth or fifth, but that's only out of ten or eleven trad shooters.
