NASCAR is a joke. Or.....wait.......no Mike Helton is a freakin joke.

A cheater won the race and the guy that whine and cried about agressive driving deliberately slammed into another car at 188 mph and got sent to the end of the line and then Kenseth does a ticky tacky foul of bump him at end of pit road(barely touched him) and that is a black flag penalty? I can understand them having to do something to Kenseth to be objective but his foul was half as bad and the penalty was twice as bad.

Also, if Kevin Harvick had pulled the same stunt Stewart did then he would have been pulled from the track for good. However, NASCAR's precious few names that can sell the sport and one of them being Tony Stewart he gets a slap on the wrist even after he whined and cried about agressive driving earlier in the week.

His comments after the race were, "He started it and I finished it." If I were in charge of NASCAR that would warrant him getting a $50,000.00 fine and a 2 week suspension. That's about what they did to Harvick in 2004.

Well, I guess I should look in the sound off section more often... I will admit, ive never been a HUGE nascar fan... ALTHOUGH, after ATTENDING the Daytona 500 in the 2nd row at the begining of the back stretch (yeah, thats right, road trip party weekend!!!), im pretty impressed with the sport.. I race motocross and have been to quite a few nationals, but the MONEY in nascar is unreal... Being my first nascar race, I was pretty pumped when the cars rolled out before the green flag, then when they hammered down after the green flag I was like "WOW"... I rented one of the scanners at the track to listen to the drivers and crew, that was pretty neat... I will say that ill probably be watching a few more races (watched the one yesterday) and learning more about the sport... I like JR (even though he drives a chevy), I cant really say why, or if its a bandwagon thing, but I think his car looks the best and he SEEMS like a pretty cool guy, plus, im a budwiser kinda guy...

I'm not crazy about it either, but there's a lot of pressure on those team owners to win. I think running the Saturday race is a big advantage for the drivers to get tuned up for Sunday.

Yeah, I think Stewart ran his total of cars he has spun out to about 14 or 15 for the season. Nascar has given him the pass as golden boy for the sport so he can do whatever the heck he wants. I hope someone will get the kahoonies to stand up to him and if it's Jr(Nascar won't dare punish him either) then so be it! I am sick of Tony Stewart.

With each passing race I continue to lose interest in Nascar. Maybe I will get excited about it again at some time, but it just doesnt have much star power now.

Gordon, Johnson, Dale Jr and Stewart can not carry the sport.

Nobody knows of or cares about Kurt Busch, Matt Kenseth, Kasey Kahne, Elliot Sadler, Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton, Michael Waltrip or Ryan Newman.

Sure Nascar fans know who these guys are, but even many of them are not that excited about them. Once Mark Martin is gone there will be even more guys scratching their heads and looking over the current crop of talent, the existing rules system and the guys that make them, and the overal lack of star extraction and they will be going elsewhere with their entertainment dollar. In fact, Nacar is at an all-time high in popularity which could quickly die off. I think the on and off track scuffles are the only thing that can save the sport. People in this day and age love that drama stuff more than the actual results of the events.

Kenseth was leading the USG Sheetrock 400 at Chicagoland with four laps to go when he was hit from behind by Jeff Gordon, sending him spinning onto the backstretch.

Gordon got a tremendous run on Kenseth on Lap 263, but Kenseth was in his way, and he refused to back off, mainly because he said that Kenseth was unfairly blocking him.

"In two laps, he could have passed me clean," Kenseth said. "He just dumped me."

Gordon, who won for the second time in three weeks, was unapologetic, saying his aggressiveness was necessitated by his need to win.

"I drove right in the back of him," Gordon said. "I didn't mean to wreck him, but I didn't mind moving him out of the way. If we can get the win, we are going to go really hard to get that win.

NASCAR officials said the incident was just hard racing.

"A slower car in front of a faster car, and passing traffic in the closing laps of a race, it happens a lot," said NASCAR president Mike Helton. "If we had seen anything there for us to react to, we would have reacted to it already."

Robbie Reiser, Kenseth's crew chief, didn't agree.

"Well, you're trying to lap a racecar and the guy drives in the back of you," Reiser said. "I don't know if I agree with that deal."

It was the second incident of the season between the two, who clashed at Bristol in March. In that race, Kenseth bumped Gordon, and Gordon got out of his car and shoved Kenseth on pit road after the race. That action cost Gordon $10,000 and put him on probation until Aug. 31.

"I got the bad end of it at Bristol, and he got the bad end of it today," Gordon said. "If he had come and shoved me, it would have been a clean slate. Those guys are racers and they understand what happens when you race for a win like that."

The contact on Sunday ruined a possible top-three finish for Kenseth, who led a race-high 112 laps but admittedly didn't have the car to beat Gordon.

That was what ticked Kenseth off. He knew Gordon was going to beat him head-to-head, but he didn't think he would finish the race in the infield care center.

"I know for sure it was intentional, but that is OK," Kenseth said. "We didn't have the car to win. I just could not get it pulled off. We would have run out of fuel anyway."

Kenseth recovered from the spin and was on the track for the last lap, but he tangled with David Stremme and wadded his car against the Turn 1 wall after the checkered flag.

It was the second consecutive year that Kenseth led the most laps at Chicagoland, only to lose the race -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. beat him last year on pit strategy.

Kenseth suggested that Gordon might have been angry over a restart on Lap 237, accusing Gordon of hanging back illegally when the green flag flew.

"On the restart, he was hanging back," Kenseth said. "I have never seen [NASCAR] enforce it."

Gordon said that Kenseth continuously blocked him.

"I wanted to race and I had a run but he blocked me again," Gordon said. "I couldn't believe he was doing that and then I had such a great run that I'm not going to back out."

The other drivers interviewed like Jeff Burton, Kyle Bush and others said the gordon incident was bad, ugly and etc. - only nascar and their yes men - spencer and wallace sided with nascar - apparently jeff has some trouble judging speed and distance - well ya know paybacks - rousch has 5 cars out their = oops:whistle:

It was a bad deal. Jeff should have shown more patience. However, nobody bad mouths Tony when he does it and he has done that about 10 times this season. It isn't always a 1st place car or in the closing laps of a race, but he has spun out a lot of cars this season for 1 reason only: it was in front of him and he was out of patience and according to Tony, "that's just racing man, if some guy is slower then me then I am going to get by whether he blocks me or not."

Nascar talks tough, but without that stuff their sport would suffer. I give Matt credit for finishing 22nd after being spun out and running out of gas and getting wrecked at the finish. Pretty good finish considering the last few laps of the race he had everything go wrong.

i also agree with mully. things are turning into a soap opera. NASCAR is losing control of the "Nextel" Cup because it ain't all about the racing no more. big$$$$. we lost neil bonnet and davey allison and we lost dale, DW, rusty, ricky rudd and terry labonte retired, it's martin's last year full time...oh man..i remember watchin petty and the allison boys go at it. i personally, i'm losing interest. it's all about face time for the sponsors and them guys go get it any way they can...they're racin dirty :irked:. it's racin to bump a guy when he trying to block you on the str8away. but into the corner is not. shoot, if Jeffy was out of patience he better hang up his helmet. shoot, if his team didn't know what kinda fuel mileage kenseth was getting they weren't on top of the race at all period. kenseth ran out of gas and not on the last lap either. but jeffy didn't go with his team's advice, he wrecked matt out to make sure:irked:
he more or less admitted as such, that he bumped him on purpose and Jeff knew bumping him going into the turn would almost surely spin or wreck him...Kenseth called it correctly in his interview. if you didn't hear it, he said in not so many words.... Its going to be so funny to hear Stewart and Gordan boo-hooing and crying because she put them in the wall or she didnt do something they like...what a bunch of panzies.
