i have come across a recurve bow that belonged to my oldest son (it was stored away after his death from car accident in 2000). just wandered if anyone knew anything about it. it is marked as follows:

Damon Howatt insignia (the letters dh inside a picture of a trad drawn bow).

55# @ 28"
HH 1770
AMO 62"

has anyone heard of the bowyer (sp.?), is it worth anything? etc. it's still in good condition and i will post a couple photos (forgot to bring my digital camera home .
i remember shooting this bow with my son a couple times (happy memories of spending days afield with my oldest son ). forgot i still had it!!
don't know if i'll get any use out of it though, the time i get to bow hunt i feel comfortable toting my compound. any info appreciated.

deerhunt45,

First of all I am sorry to hear about your son.

Didn't you already post this in another forum?
In an estimated answer to your question check ebay for a bow simular to the one you have and check and see what they are going for. If I am not mistaken the last 2 numbers of 1770 would mean it was made in 1970
Damon Howatt bows are now under the Martin name and some of their bows are replicas of older Howatt bows. The bow you have sounds like a Howatt Hunter model as by the weight and lenght are conciderd a good hunting weight. I do have a contact on another forum who may be able to give some more insite on the model you have.

You can always just send it to me..;)

I have a Damon/Howatt hunter that my father gave me. It is #55 @ 28", HH 3798, Amo 62". What is it worth and is it a good bow? Looks like the pic above, excellent condition.
