WE have our share here in our great state and they are in every part of the state, one is prolly very close to you...here are a few...assenheimer,morrison,striker.jordan,ancient spirits...anybuddy considering a new custom built bow should consider ohio bowyers...they are at the top of the field when it comes to a high quality custom bow and the great part is you can, in most cases , drive to their shop and give their bows a test drive...

There are several that are not as well known as well. Like Dave Wallace out of Merietta, OH / Doug Rielly out of Portsmouth OH and several others that little is know of them but make a fine bow in their own right.
Even the owner of Fairfield Outdoors in Lancaster makes a nice longbow.

I have a 44# recurve made by Bradon Stahl. I'm not sure where in Ohio he is located. Its a very nice bow and shoots great.

yes i have heard of those bowyers too and they too are up there with the ones i first mentioned...we here in ohio are very lucky to have such great bowyers...i myself choose one thats 15 minutes from where i live...if one is close to you and you are in the market for a new custom made bow,you owe it to yourself to go see what they have, most have bows that you can shoot in many different styles, lengths and poundages and can give xpert advice on bows for beginners as well as how to set up bows and how to shoot them...this is a great way to get started...and many of our ohio bowyers have very nice bows at very reasonable costs too...its great when a bowyer lives just down the road and its also great to help out a neighbor whos doing what he loves to do,build bows...:D

Hey I know The Zipper used to be made down in Ravenswood, WV - not too far from Marietta - anyone know where they moved to in Ohio? I hear Bob Thompson sold part/all of his business to a new bowyer.
Anyone ever seen or shot any of the Saluki Bows from Grand Rapids, Ohio? I've been pondering that Ibex, love the Asiatic and Turkish styles.

Ive seen 'em argue that one to death on the Leatherwall and trad gang. To me, no lams and no CNC means "primitive."
Seen some fine traditional non-cnc recurves, and some that were junk. Do you all consider lams to be "traditional"?

ok i'll tell you how it goes...
traditional...is fiberglass/wood...even muh oldies in muh collection no doubt are the real trads...
an primitive is all wood...or bone an possibly backed with wood/linin/rawhide/sinyew etc...but not fiberglass...primitive bows have been made for thousands of years...trad bows ...less than a hunert years...its that simple...same can be said bout arrahs...fiberglass an alum, carbon an plastic nocks are not primitive...:D
