Your Gold tip 5575's will probably be too stiff.

When i started out i would go to the archery clubs and ask for the scrap bucket pull about 10 from there and go shoot,Because you will loose many when starting out,Also i don't like wood break to easy,I like alum 2117 easton legacy.

dreamer , a good cedar shaft will take alot more abuse off trees and such than a metal arrow , they bend to easy . trust me , i hit alot of trees:cool:

all those you mention sound to stiff...i know nothing bout carbon i admit...now if its alum. an the length of your shaft minus tip is 29" i'd say 1916 or 2016...i personally use 2016 in my bows from 46# to 50#...:D

For Gold Tips most people I know shoot 3555's, but if your shooting a 70 pound bow then 5575's might work.
I put a 100 grain insert in the nose and use a 145 field point and 150 broadhead. With fletchings my arrows weigh in around 520 or so.

thunderflight ,
what pound bow are you shooting with that arrow combo....

I've shot them out of my 50 and 60 pound bow. I had some older GT real tree camo'd shafts that had a slight wobble, but I bought some of the traditional wood grain shafts and they fly like darts. I'm getting 187 fps outta my 60 pound bow.

Rurik....the CE-300 may have a shot if you add enough point weight, prolly will need 150 or 175 up front for good flight. 1916's should work well with 125gr....better hunting weight would be the 2016 at close to 500 gr with 125 up front. Check out www.bowmaker.com and www.arrowsbykelly.com fpr chart info and tuning tips;) good luck....TF

2020s would most likely be the best match depending on thier length. If you want to find out for sure go to easton's website and download their shaft selector plus program. I believe it is in the dealer section of their website. You can enter all of your information and find out which shaft will work out better.

I used to shoot the port oxford cedars and they would break pulling from target??????/Then i switch to carbon Beman ics 400 and they shoot real good,But i like to get back to alum arrows so i thought i would go with 2117 is that to much of an arrow,Shooting out of a 28 inch 55lb kudu????????Should i order a different size to get better arrow flight????

i used 2117 out of a 60# bow...they were 29" length,worked fine...i believe i used them in a 55# bow too...i would think 2018 would work well...this is at 29" length and 125 point...as for wood arrows being stronger,i dont have much luck with them...most my alums are 20 years old...:mischeif:

CD2...2117 may be on the stiff side for 55#s...Hoot shoots a 30" arrow as do I outta my 56#@30" Shafer. Some bows can and do shoot a wider variety of arrows. My bow will not shoot 2117's consistently and likes the 2016 best. Adjust point weight up to smooth out any side to side tailing. I've always been an advocate of flat tradectory out to 25yds, and to achieve this, the 2016 with 125gr up front does it for me;) ....TF

Cock feather in off of the shelf or turned down slightly to run thru the trough of the shelf. And cock feather out off of an elevated rest.
